This is an Atari SX212 modem. However, it's not your father's SX212 - this one has the original internal board and electronics removed and replaced with a modern WiModem, capable of running at speeds far beyond the original 2400 baud. It comes with the original 25 pin serial port connection for your Atari ST or an SIO port for the Atari 8bit crowd. The best part? The original lights and speaker still work! That's right, that "warbling" tone we've all missed so much when we switched to telnet to connect to BBS's instead of direct dial-up is back in all it's glory!
Oh, forgot to mention that the SX212's case is not changed at all - no modifications necessary.
At any point in time, you could simply reinsert the original hardware and it would be just like
factory again.

This is the Retro Atari SX212 modem, hooked up to my Atari Mega STe's second serial port, downloading
a file from The DarkForce! BBS at 38400 baud, with no errors. I'm using CoNect95 here and Zmodem.

Hmm, okay - are you saying that you can't watch that video?
Here, it says it can't be embedded but you can click on it to
watch it at Youtube.
I can click on that link and it takes me straight there.
Thanks.

Double your pleasure, double your fun!
Double Retro Atari SX212 modems. One is hooked up to the Mega STe's
1st serial port at 19200 baud and the other one is hooked up to it's 2nd
serial port, at 38400 baud.
Awesome stuff.
PS Yeah, yeah, that 2nd one is really yellowed - I see a paint job in it's
future soon. :)
