Hello, I downloaded this FreeMiNT OS distribution onto a CF card.

Everything runs smoothly with a standard 14 MB Falcon/C-Lab MKI.
However, as soon as I activate the DFB1X, the system crashes right at the start.
With 11 bombs, sometimes even with 3 or 4... I have already contacted the uploaders, but they didn't know the solution either.
Blitter is deactivated and memory protection is also turned off.
Everything is fine under TOS 4.04 with DFB1X and there are no problems.
Does anyone have any idea where the error lies? Thank you.

I cannot offer anything constructive but I tried FreeMiNT about a year ago and it just scrolled loads of errors. IIRC it was also moaning for some reason the drive was write protected (when it wasn't) . I gave up in the end.

You might want to not use MAPROM though as that does "interesting things" which it might not like.

Was not aware of that image either.. Looks good. Wish they had a files download rather than a image though!

Nothing has changed in the setup, it's just as it was installed.

I'll test it a little more...

I have a feeling it's something to do with HD Driver and Maprom. HD Driver has an option to load into fast RAM, it also has options for IDE blitter acceleration. Try making sure all these options are turned off in the configuration app. Better still, you could try EmuTOS instead of TOS 4.04 which will bypass HD Driver entirely and also won't require Maprom.

Everything should actually be deactivated. I'll check again tomorrow, as I'm at my girlfriend's place now and she doesn't have a Falcon. :lol:
I'll try to boot without maprom.
I can also test EmuTOS then.

Interesting. Just to be on the safe side, you could also try downloading and running https://tho-otto.de/snapshots/freemint/ ... clones.zip instead. I don't expect to behave differently but you never know.

I don't know what exactly MAPROM does but yeah, sounds like a good idea to disable it first.

There's also one open issue with 030 + TT RAM: https://github.com/freemint/freemint/issues/308 but this seems to be related to CT2. I still have to look into it.

Other things to try to narrow it down:

* Remove all FPUs (motherboard FPU should be removed anyway if you have DFB1X installed)
* Disable the mint.prg in the AUTO folder and instead copy MINT000.PRG directly there (yes, 000).

Oh man, it's working. Yes, it was HDDriver. :oops:
Although I'm sure I hadn't activated the options, they were switched on. (IDE and Blitter acceleration) No idea ...
I knew they had to be off. Otherwise, everything is as installed, MapROM isn't causing any problems either.
The version from Thorsten Otto is also working. It even boots a little faster.

The blitter was not enabled when I checked after the first start in SI.CPX.
The Blitter Acceleration/IDE option in HDDriver was somehow re-enabled.
I have no idea why, or maybe I'm already senile and don't remember. :lol:
I had actually disabled this.
Now that everything is running, the blitter option in SI.CPX is no longer selectable.
