Replacing CPLD on TF1232

Hello!

I seem to have killed my TF1232, i suspect by inadvertently shorting something while i had the case off on my 1200, the amiga works fine if i take the card out - the other symptom is both the CPLD and 3.3v regulator on the backside of the board get extremely hot within a few seconds of powering on, so im assuming one or both are toast!

Can i replace the CPLD with the same part from somewhere like mouser (are the cheaper eBay xilinx chips fake?!) and possibly the regulator as well, (ive got a load of AMS1117 3.3's) and then just reprogram it? Is there anything else i need to do or look out for?

Thanks!

I would recommend sending the board back to your builder for inspection and repair, rather than tempting to replace the CPLD.

You should always buy cplds from official sources because most of those sold on ebay are defective. Now this is more complicated since they are no longer being manufactured but the builders will have leftover stock.

Agreed.

@fraser We're more than happy to fix up this sort of thing for people who are honest with us. The builders often even fix it for each other if postage is crazy.
