I have a DFB1X at 50MHz inside my Falcon and after a few working hours, I am seeing instabilities (bombs flying around...).
My guess it is heat related and tested the following temperatures:
1. 68030 body - 53c
2. PSU Q1 - 80c
3. PSU HS2 - 70c
4. Ambience above C5 - 47c

The PSU cover is removed, 68030 has a heatsink.
I have tried placing a vertical fan near the 68030 but it did very little.

Are those temperatures expected? How do others maintain proper temperatures for an accelerated Falcon?

The best thing would be a modern replacement PSU which runs cooler and provides better power regulation as a bonus.

Oh and PS I just realised - why are you jumping to a heat conclusion. Weren't you struggling with a clock patch problem before.

I am experiencing audio crackles in Cubase, which is DMA. I am currently not doing any Cubase work as I am waiting for SMD resistors so that I can install Clock patch V4 (I currently have the traditional "C-lab" board modifications and clock).

Otherwise, it works good.

Are there any recommended temperature operating ranges for the 68030? I get mixed messages in various boards, some of them Amiga ones ... :-)

Its unlikely you have a overheat problem how you think. Its probably something borderline like psu voltage which drifts just enough to cause crashes. I would also resolder the PSU connector on the motherboard just in case.

Recap the PSU if you haven't do it too. Both my Falcons had seriously shot caps which were not visible till they were removed. From what I've seen on ST's that can manifest itself in really odd ways.
