I didn't notice that. But I think he called the CPU internal 16bit by mistake at one point.. :shrug:
I'm not sure he mentioned the idea of 32bit was to make the codebase future proof for the future 32bit cpus. He talks about registers and code a bit... Wasn't really paying much attention as been really tired today :lol: :roll:

Because 68000/8/10/12 are internally 16 bit :)
They can operate on 32bit data but in 16bit chunks:
add.w D0,D1 <-- 4 cpu cycles
add.l D0,D1 <-- 8 cpu cycles
