New internal Ultrasatan (Lotharek)

Okay, Lotharek has a newer version of the internal Ultrasatan on his website and I picked one up the other day. I also bought the adapter cable to go along with it.
I posted in other places about how he's changed the mounting holes and the width on the slots for the 2 SD-cards already.
Now, according to his website, power can come directly from the adapter/cable:
"since 2024 revision 1.2 is sold - adapter supplies power directly to USATAN on pin 20 of IDC connector /please, refer to USATAN INTERNAL page/just CONNECT 5V from ATARI PCB to adapter solder point."
And here's the pictures, including the schematics:
This setup doesn't work if just plugged in (I tried :) ) .
So it looks like +5v has to come from the motherboard somewhere and fed to the adapter?
I'm not sure I'm seeing the advantage to this compared to the last generation internal US where you fed +5v directly to the US from the motherboard. This model still has a connector for that.
Thanks.
