Hi @ll,

I live in France, when i was a teenager, my parents could only afford to by a me 800 XL (which was quite expensive in 1984), so it's still my favorite Atari :)
But 3 decades later, it's now time for me to try the 16 bits, so i'm the new owner of a french 1040 STF and it's only the beginning !
I'm sure i will find here help (and stuff to spend my money) :)

Sorry, it's a 1040 STF (not STFM - i edited my first post).

Well, the ST universe is huge and the possibilities are almost endless. So gaming will be my first use, then probably music :)

My first problem is going to be able to use it because...I have nothing on my TV screen.
The included cable does not work on my Secam TV (i have only a black screen), i've ordered a new SCART cable. The strange thing is that my 800XL works perfectly on this TV. I've read tons of informations about this problem but in fact to much, i don't know where the truth is :)
I also have a monochrome Atari Monitor but...Well, it lacks colors :)
Or a CGA to HDMI adapter maybe.
Another option seems to be your "UBE VIDEO ADAPTER" that should (?) work with my STF. But it seems a very elegant solution.

Maybe i'll also upgrade the TOS (french version), i've seen some on your store (ST/F/M 6 CHIP TOS 1.04 FRANCAIS £25 2 In Stock [0120]) it seems it's the right one. :)

I've also ordered an Ultrasatan but i can't use it for now: I wished to buy The "Atari ST PP" Hard Disk driver" but...the forum.8bitchip.info forum is dead. There should be another way to put files from windows to the SD card. I need to google it a bit more.

As you can see i've been honest : I am a real ST newbie :)

UBE is very nice, but of course you need a 15khz capable monitor to use it.

I would recommend TOS104 for the STF for sure.

Yes indeed for the 15k monitor, so i'll try a Scart to HDMI Converter first.

For the TOS, i'll wait a bit, i'm waiting for another 1040 STf 8-)
