Hello, all.

Finally I am planning to install the DFB1X in my Falcon I got the machine from someone who already put in a few mods: I *think* it has the clock patch and I am sure it runs on a compactflash.

So I hope the board still fits and what I find when I open it up ;-)

Question though, I have crawled the board but didn't find the answer: do I just put in the board? NOTHING to remove or to alter? I read that you have to remove any FPU you have, but what about the existing CPU?

I just plugged mine in to the expansion port and it works perfectly!

Compactflash or clock patches shouldn't get in the way at all.

There should be a jumper on the expansion headers. You do need to remove that.

No need to remove the existing CPU...the DFB1X has a jumper you can set to disable it and then run the Falcon with the original 030 if needed for any compatibility.

I ran mine with the exxos clockpatch along with a few other audio mods mine came with as well. No issues.

I plugged it in. It works very well (although I couldn't test ALT-RAM yet - I guess that would need some extra programs to be installed - will check the site).

One thing though: my Falcon has a perfect metal inner case. That inner case is clearly in the way. I can't close the inner case anymore with the board installed.

Did everybody here get rid of that metal inner case? Or did you alle cut a few holes in it to keep the inner case intact as much as possible?

For the inner case, is that the section of the case that has the speaker attached?

I removed mine and have never got round to putting it back on.

I've removed my top RF shielding, but kept it in storage. I like to be able to reverse anything I do.

I did not remove my FPU and everything works fine, wondering whether I should? Could not find a definite answer in the documentation or Badwolfs videos.

Yes, you should. For safety, at least.

I made a design mistake which could see it being activated inadvertently, causing bus conflict and impairing the new one.

Well, just to report that yesterdaynight it took us about 4 hours to modify the case (manual work, just basic tools) so the DFB1X fitted nicely.

Wanted to boost and show off here of course...but when I booted it to MiNT this morning I found out ALT-RAM is not working anymore.

As long as I haven't solved that... no boosting and showing off here of course ;-)
