DFB1X issues with Master of Orion [Falcon030] [1oom]

Hi,

i bought and installed a DFB1X in my Atari Falcon and it`s running fine. I also got a lot of games to run in Alt-RAM with PRG Flags and i can see an increase in speed, but I'm not able to get Master of Orion [Falcon030] [1oom] to work via DFB1X Alt-RAM.

Game is running in normal 16 MHz mode with 14 MB ST-RAM, but very slow. When i enable "Run in Alt-RAM" in the executable program with PRG Flags and try to run the game, i get two bombs and it`s not working. I tried all variations with PRG FLAGS, but i`m not able to get it to work.

Does anyone have an idea what`s to do to get the game running via DFB1X Alt-RAM, because i want to try the game in accelerated mode?
Has anyone else tried this?

Thanks!

DharkStar

The original discussion was over here:
https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.p ... on#p404083

Potentially the author of the SDL conversion may see it?

Thanks for your answer!

Yes, i know the discussion about this topic in atari-forum, but i thought i post it here related to DFB1X. Maybe someone has already had the same experience. But I think I'll ask this question there too.

I can try this out tonight over the weekend, where did you get the game from so I'm looking at the same version?

Many thanks,

Simon

Thank you, that would be very helpful!

I used the version available at Atarimania. See the following link:
https://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-s ... 36491.html

Please keep in mind, that you need the LBX files from the original game. In this case, please also take a look at the instructions at Atarimania.
Additional info: Game is running in normal mode with 16 MHz and 14 MB ST-Ram, but without sound (that`s another problem, but it`s not so important from my point of view).

I'm very excited about your findings. Thanks!

Isn’t the game free and then you find the data files elsewhere? Like doom and it’s WAD files, they’re ‘out there’?

Yep, I found them.

After a very quick test running under TOS 4.04 it works no matter what is set in PRGFLAGS and can't see any difference in performance.

Thank you for your tests!

That`s interesting, because when i enable "Run in TT-RAM" with PRG Flags i get bombs and the program crashes. On my environment it only runs in "normal mode", when i disable all options with PRG Flags or when only "Fastload" is activated, but then as far as i understand it, it runs only in normal 16 MHz Mode and with ST-RAM. With all other settings the program crashes, when using Alt-RAM.

But thanks anyway!

If someone can provide me a complete package of the executable game I'll give it a try when the Falcon's next on the bench and see if I can find any problems.

A ZIP/RAR of a working directory is ideal. I'm afraid I don't have the time to go hunting for files I don't understand, apologies.
