I just purchased HHDriver. I’m trying to figure a way to get the files into a .st image file so I can load into my gotek.

I’ve tried that but the program crashes on my windows computer when I try to do the transfer.

I'm confused, if you have HDdriver, I assume you have a harddrive, so why would you want to copy files from harddrive to a gotek ? Why not just run them from the hard drive ?

First off, if you are trying to use a USB floppy drive, it won't work and states that fairly clearly in the docs, plus you'll need fdrawcmd in order to use FloIMG.

FloIMG will only work with a built in Floppy Disk Drive with a proper controller, plus anything beyond Windows 7 and your mileage may vary. I've used it very successfully on an old laptop that has a real FDD under Windows 2000.

Alternatively use Hatari with a GEMDOS drive and put the HDDRIVER files in the GEMDOS folder.

Create a blank floppy in Hatari and note where the blank image is created. Insert the blank floppy into drive A: of the Hatari machine and copy the files from the GEMDOS folder to drive A:

Once you shut down Hatari or eject the disk image from A: you can then use that .ST image as your driver disk.

The files came in an email. I don’t have the files on an atari compatible cf card (ide adapter).

Sounds like you need to boot the HDDriver floppy disk and partition the hard disk.
 
If using Windows, to create a floppy disk image, try https://github.com/RobSmithDev/DiskFlashback

This tool allows mounting disk images and also creating new ones. You can then copy the emailed files onto the mounted floppy disk.

Thanks, the Hatari trick worked. I was able to create a .st image and load it on my gotek. In case this is new news, the Latest HDDriver version supports hybrid partitions. I partitioned my 4GB CF card into 4 equal tos/dos portions. The cf card is fully operation on my Falcon and I can connect it to my Mac to copy files. :)

I'd be a little wary of using TOS/Windows for your main partitions (I think Uwe warns against it also). Only the week before last mine got corrupted by Windows and I had to repartition it.

I only use them for swap partitions so it wasn't a big deal for me. Perhaps Macs are better anyway. Either way, it's probably sensible to take the odd backup.

I have fully backed up my CF card to my mac. If something goes wrong it will take only a few minutes to restore. Also, Macs are better :D
