[Video] Spoiled to Splendid: Mega ST 4 / DigiDesign 'Sound Accelerator' offer

Morning.

I was very lucky to be given a Mega ST 4 at a house clearance that belonged to the very well respected organist and composer Francis Monkman.

Here's how my restoration effort went.

Unfortunately I didn't realise there was a special expansion inside that relied on some external hardware, so that hardware wasn't saved.

Is anyone interested in reverse engineering the 'Sound Accelerator' and building a new external interface for it?

I'd like to see @tOriman involved in this, due to his excellent past record of reverse engineering projects!

Also, here is a post on atari-forum where someone uploaded some floppy images for it: https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=16512

And also here, someone uploaded digidesign sound tools: https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=14657

Here is a direct link to the last post, where the latest versions were uploaded: https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.p ... 41#p396241

Here is a nice Wiki entry with good information: https://temlib.org/AtariForumWiki/index ... esigner_II

Seems there would have also been a fairly important break-out box for it: "Atari Sound Accelerator to be fitted to the Mega ST via the Sound Tools audio input/ouput box"

Another really interesting article where there was almost a collaboration between Digidesign and Clab, Notator HD!: https://www.muzines.co.uk/blog/notator-hd/32
