I have the Falcon CLAB mark 1 and was looking at the DBF1 50mhz booster. If I install it, will I lose compatibility with my current software? I know it has a software switch to put the processor at 16mhz, how how is the compatibility. In the end I prefer compatibility than being able to boast that I have a 50mhz machine.😺

I think that is very difficult to answer without just simply trying the software. Nobody really does compatibility lists for anything.

I would imagine that a 50MHz CPU should not really affect software as such . Though the main speed of the accelerator comes from the use of TTram. Not all software likes running in TTram. But cleanly written gem application should really have no troubles.

I think you're going to be hitting 99% compatibility, because the CPU is the same, and it's not like you're forced to enable fast ram. Even a 68060 CPU is compatible with the vast majority of software, so this being an 030 (same as stock, but faster clocked) should be very compatible. But of course, no guarantees, you'll surely find that 1%! :)

So, if I get the dbf1x, what other of the upgrades would be a good idea to purchase at the same time?

I have PSU upgrade, VGA adapter, clock fix, NVRAM (not fitted yet), internal CF card instead of HD, diagnostic cartridge - so far!

It says it is plug and play. Where does the accelerator connect to on the motherboard?

Just below the PSU. There is two large 2-row pin headers on the left side of the motherboard. The two on the right side is for memory modules/expansions.
