Acorn A310

The (first?) Acorn Archimedes A310. It came out about a year or two before the more famous A3000. This one isn't the earliest it has a Rev2 motherboard but still 1987. This one came with Arthur, the predecessor of the normal RiscOS that the later models would use.

I wasn't really trying to buy it. Late night bid having had a glass of wine too much. Not a bad price even without a keyboard or mouse.

It has had one upgrade, a 2-podule backplane. It would probably have had a SCSI card and a SCSI HDD plugged into it but they have gone.

1st thing to do is give it an air-dust, check for shorts then power it up. They are fairly indestructible unlike A3000 because they had an off-board battery carrier. If it's working ok I plan to manufacture/buy a ROM carrier board then I can fit RiscOS 3.11 and a 4MB RAM upgrade.

I'd like an original A3xx/A4xx keyboard but they sell for £125+ so I'll probably use the PS/2 adapter I have.

We've all done that late night purchase :)

Looks good, I'll be interested to see how you get on with it and what mods it ends up with.
