UltraSatan not compatible with TT030!?
Posted: 01 Mar 2024 09:25
I have recently bought an UltraSatan from Lotharek (latest version from this year, black PCB) and it works perfectly with my MegaST4 (TOS 1.06):
But with my TT030 (TOS3.06) there is a strange behavior:
- The first cold boot seems to be OK, but there is an error message from the US_GETCL.PRG located in the AUTO folder that it cannot be read from US.
- When I run the us_config: in the welcome screen it shows no firmware version and both ACSI-IDs are 0,
- The 4 firmware slots beneath the write protected are empty:
When I plug the UltraSatan back to my MegaST4:
- Everything is OK,
- When I run the us_config tool the ACSI-IDs are 0 and 1 again,
- The 4 firmware slots are filled again with the uploaded versions as in the first picture.
When on my MegaST4 I change the 68000 against my (recently finished) ST536 accelerator board (exxos patched TOS 2.06 and EmuTOS 1.2.1), there is exactly the same behavior as on my TT030.
What I have tried so far to solve the problem:
- I contacted jookie (no answer so far),
- I contacted Lotharek (we had a lot of e-mail ping-pong but in the end he has no idea what the problem is),
- on my TT030 I have tried to change the ACSI-IDs to 0 an 1 and save it. The setting ist stored but it does not work (-> picture 2).
- on my MegaST4 I changed the ACSI-ID to 2 and 3 and saved this setup to the US. It works perfectly there. When with this configuration I plug the US to the TT030, it bahaves again like shown on picture 2 (ACSI-ID are 0 and 0 again).
So now to the interesting trial:
- My TT030 has 2 MB ST-RAM and 4 MB TT-RAM. I unplugged the TT-RAM card and suddenly the US works perfectly on my TT030!!!
Now to my opinion the cause is the firmware of the US. It does not work as soon as TT-Ram is detected (TT030 and ST536). Mybe it was never tested with my RAM configuration?
Any comments to solve it are welcome.
If there is a TT-owner in the region of Berlin wo would allow me to plug the UltarSatan to his TT, this would outrule that my TT030 has a specific problem (that I do not believe in).
Thank you
Stefan
