Mega ST Hard drive mount

Things are progressing fast here, the two Mega's are up and running and I have an ADSCSI micro begging to be installed in one. Has anyone mounted a 3.5" SCSI drive in a Mega ST? Are there mounts available or what was used to do it? Ye olde google brings up little to nothing.

I don't think there is room for a 3.5" SCSI drive inside a MegaST. For a start it doesn't have a SCSI controller only ACSI. They were intended to be paired with ACSI MegaFiles (which are not SCSI either, they are either XT or 8-bit IDE)
To fit something internally in a MegaST I think you'd need a HDD controller such as the
Internal UltraSatan (£75 + Postage from EU)

I've mounted 2.5" IDE drives, but I think a 3.5" drive would be a struggle to fit.
IIRC the Mega ST has an ACSI header internally, so you could potentially connect an ACSI device internally and use an SD device like UltraSatan.

I have the ADSCSI micro, its designed for the MEGAST and sits behind the hard drive, plugs into the internal ACSI header. There is plenty of room and there were commercial options to fit the drive back in the day. It fits up near the floppy drive but I can't find any info on it. I have some idea's but was wondering if anyone here had done it.

Back then, Hard&Soft also had a set for the Atari Mega ST including a sheet metal plate including spacer bolts. There are numerous mounting holes in the manboard, for example for a graphics card. The 3.5 Zoll SCSI hard drive was rotated 90 degrees next to the floppy in the front left area of the Atari Mega ST case.

I did see those, Frank. I am considering making up a plate and mounts. It will have to be mounted below the board. ABS sheet seems like a good option at a pinch. Photos I have seen have a 5 1/4 drive in the middle of the case. That would be tight.

After a bit of googling I see that Supra used to make a MegaST internal HDD kit called the Mega-Drive :)

That's about the only info I can find. So I guess its rarer than rocking horse droppings. I suppose this will be another small jobie for the weekend. I have nutted out a plan already. I will report back when I'm done. My hope was someone had 3d printed a bracket.

Just a thought but what about using a BlueSCSI instead of the HDD?

I have two Mega's, one will be a back in the day kinda setup and the other will be running ACS2STM so I have that covered. I also have a few SCSI HDD's on the shelf so no shortage at this point in time. Just OCD I guess. :-)
