Pre-acquisitions - It is assumed you are logged in with a registered and verified account as mentioned HERE.

So to upload a file. Click the upload file link on the left of the home page.

You then get to this page. Click the choose file button and select the file by the usual file selector shenanigans.

Then your file name is listed in two places. If you have a incredibly stupidly long file name then you can rename it to something more sensible in the second filename box (destination filename) .

Then click the upload button.

I highlighted a green circle because this is the example code you need to include images on your page. This will be explained shortly..

You then get this type of page which shows your image. Basically you are done!

Now the coding part..

Code: Select all

[[File:File.jpg]] to use the full version of the file
[[File:File.png|200px|thumb|left|Caption]] to use a 200-pixel-wide rendition in a box in the left margin with the text "Caption" below
So if I wanted to include a full sized image in a wiki page I would do something like this:

Code: Select all

[[File:Giphy.gif]]
Though if the image is generally larger than thing like 800px wide , images might struggle to display mobile devices. Indeed it could "take over" the wiki page layout being to large. I've already made that mistake and need to fix it

So if you wanted to make the image display smaller until clicked on, we would do something like this:

Code: Select all

[[File:Giphy.gif|800px]]
That is pretty much all you need to know for including images :)

Please do not upload images larger than 1600px wide unless absolutely necessary, as we do not have unlimited server storage :) so please be a little economical and don't go wild :) You can upload JPG if a bit of compression does not matter. Or upload PNG if you need specifically a cleaner image etc.

MASS UPLOAD METHOD

I found a extension which makes uploading files the order of magnitude faster by simply drag-and-drop for the most part.

Assuming you are creating or editing a page then you can simply drag-and-drop on the box as illustrated below..

10.PNG

Make sure all your files you want to upload or in the list.. Then click the upload link.

20.PNG

You can use the insert link to insert the files wherever you want in the page.

WARNING:
Do not click the preview button without first adding all your files on the page, otherwise the list disappears. If that happens you will have to go to the general upload page as described in the previous post and obtain file names / links from the upload history page. You cannot really upload existing files without first deleting them either!
