Does anyone have in their bits and pieces/spares one of the SIPP modules shown in the picture below?


I'm also after a VME Slot rear closing panel for my TT. Either a blank or with the 2 serial ports on it.

Atari recommends SIMMs with 424101 chips on them, these are "nibble mode RAMs". Take the fastest possible PC SIMMs (60ns) and tried with burst mode. If it doesn't work the burst mode must be switched off.


... if you don't get the same Simm for exchange you have to replace all four Simm modules.

It might be worth repairing that faulty module .. I have some SIPS but they're low amounts from a 512k STe. Did you mention the RAM size per DIMM? For the rear VME slot plate you can fashion your own from aluminium quite easily.

The Atari TT Fastram board is a 4MB one, not upgradeable to 16MB.

Maybe only the 100nF capacitor had a short ?

Thanks all, yes, 1MB SIPP modules from Atari. It does look like only the capacitor has shorted as the RAM is still working and not showing any errors. Left a nice scorch mark on the ceiling of the case. I had though of just bodging it with a thru hole capacitor - I do so hate bodging things though and would prefer to try and get a replacement module. I hoped someone might have something in a spares box - looks like a bodge is the way on this one.

Thanks for the suggestion on making a VME plate. I looked around and did find a blank plate on Thingiverse and was contemplating branching that and adding a couple of cutouts for serial ports, send it to PCB way with an order for some PCBs I want making and see how good their aluminium fabrication is. Again, it's the long way round when I could just cut up and bodge a piece of alu - I must have a bit lying around somewhere!
