I sometimes wrestle with this problem and I can ever come to a conclusion :lol: :roll:

I guess this is one of those hypothetical and philosophy type of things. Where if older you could go back in time by like 40 years or something and meet your younger self, what would your younger self think of the older you..

Interesting to know other people's thoughts on this hypothetical situation..

I'd like to hope that my younger self would feel I'd done well for myself.

The question I'd have though, is given my current life is a culmination of all my life experiences, would I warn my younger self about my ex-wife and tell him to 'avoid her', because it might change how my current self turned out...

Yep I thought that as well. It's a similar question of if you could give your past self one piece of advice what would it be.. cause changing one single event no matter how small is back to the butterfly effect. It could change your entire outcome of your life.

I'm now wondering what AI makes of chaos theory...

I'd give my younger self some real career advice. I'd tell myself not to do a college Btec, not to go to Uni. I'd tell myself to do an apprenticeship in Engineering.

Funny old thing that, I did an engineering apprenticeship in the RAF.

Younger me was a horrible cynic. This came on in my teenage years and lingered for a looong time into my late 20s/early 30s. Although I was social and I had a great time at university, I'm surprised that some of the friends I had stuck around. I'm sure I drank too much, but then most of those people did too. I have some truly fond memories of those days but in hindsight, the booze -- admittedly a huge part of the culture at the time -- was a social crutch for me and it took until my 30s to be better with people.

These days I'm more socially minded and mentally balanced. I barely drink, and I exercise frequently. I run up to half marathon distance in the warmer parts of the year and I enjoy it. I eat pretty healthily. I've got a good job and a good income. I've seen (parts of) the world. And I've met so many regular people who I find truly inspiring. I'm much less of a cynic, much more of a reasonable and curious person.

So my younger self would probably despise aspects of my older self. But my older self is okay with that.

I think my younger self would be fundamentally disappointed in almost all aspects
of my older self... :roll:
