I've been framed!!

I found a dead digital photo frame when I was sorting out my big box 'o cables & stuff the other day. TBH it hadn't worked for a very long time and I was thinking about recovering the screen and binning the rest:
This is the thing:
It's not big, but I thought I may as well have a look see what was inside and I found some weird stuff. There was a sort of glue, or something, brown, gunky and disintegrating, that was on some components. Whatever it was, it looked like melted insects!! Sadly I lost my photo of the insides (Not entirely sure how!!) but managed to clean it all off and then found a dead CR2032 on the back, so removed that too:
It was held down by more 'melted insect glue' and was a bit corroded. So gone for now, but I may look to fit a more standard battery folder later on.
I also found the power socket loose as well, so reflowed it and lo and behold, it works again!!
I need to find a proper PSU for it, but it'll make a nice clock for my workbench area once it's finished and has had a clean up :)
