30 pin SIMM sockets

I have been selling the decent quality types in my store for a while for £5 a pop. Though as mentioned somewhere else the other day, they are basically discontinued by the manufacturer now. I'm having troubles finding anywhere selling them at all now :(

I have the option of purchasing 1,000 from the manufacturer but these are not going to be cheap :( The price of them has basically gone up a LOT. I guess again in part due to shortages but also the relatively low production run I guess.

They seem a little easier to find around the USA. But no use me buying them because by the time they are posted with the possibly import charges are on top it would double the price of them anyway.

Problem really is how long would it take for me to shift 1,000 sockets in the first place. Like most things in Atari than they are not exactly good sellers. But they do sort of semi-regularly sell. But generally not in those sort of quantities

If it's not profitable over one year I don't think it's worth the investment for a business. I'd look at how many you sold last year and assume you'd sell the same again this year, if the profit equals the investment it's worth it, otherwise not imo.

Yeah that's the problem. I doubt I will be selling more than 50 a year. So buying 1,000 is 20 years investment. Don't really plan on being around for that long

I have decided not to purchase the pack of 1,000. Aside from the cost is in the literal thousands to buy, and realistically I never will sell that many of the sockets going by past sales of them anyway...

There are currently out of stock. I need to check how many I have left and how many I want to keep back for my own personal stock. The price will however increase in my store as the stock diminishes.

@exxos I see that there are some in stock again. Are these identical to the ones I would have bought in November?

Great - better pick up a spare then, just in case.
