Recreating the RSVE mod…

Does anyone think that there might be a chance of talking Lotharek into
making the RSVE mod for Atari ST computers?
I thought I had one but have been unable to find it.
I know, there's a couple of files out there detailing how to make your
own. I've looked at those docs and feel uncomfortable about doing it
myself.
I also searched Ebay and Ebay Germany but found nothing.

Wasn't that thing just making the RS232 faster ? If so I think you can just feed in a faster osc ?

There were a couple of different versions. I had the RSVE mod
that was made by the author of the HSModem software.
Then there's a very plain version that literally was fed a signal
like you described.
Finally, there's a version that was described in the Atari magazine,
ST Format.

It's that time of the year again :D Well it seems easy enough. I would add a little bypass capacitor for the '4040 though ?
EDIT: challenge accepted, should be done by the week-end (because life etc...)

@sporniket, that one in the mag is not the RSVE, it's only 38,400 baud capable.
The RSVE reports up to 115,200 baud and I think that is what
@Darklord is after.

Yes, sorry - didn't make myself clear.
If the simpler version is all that can be achieved, I'd happily
accept it but I'd prefer the faster/more complex RSVE version
from the original author of HSModem.
Umm...looking at the diagrams, is it possible to achieve a
version with both the operational LED and the switch to
turn it on and off?
Also...if possible...I'd love to have -3- of them.
Don't ask for much, do I? :) :) :)
Monetary compensation for all materials and labor of course.

Ok, I had almost finished the double speed mod, as a piggy-back module for DIP version of the MFP. Well, it's there for people that are interested, I'll make a gerber later :

Thanks, I looked a little bit on the content. Fortunately, I had Grafx2 that can open "img" pictures. If I understand correctly, this is the original PCB ? I undertstand that the '4040 is under the PCB.

There are two things that blocks me
- I cannot do GAL/PAL programming (no hardware, no software, and it was not on my own goals as I try to stay away of those stuff, so low motivation). You will have to find someone for that part.
- Testing the thing, as I don't know how to do it properly, and the fact that I would have to mod my own STe for that. (Last time I volunteered for testing stuff like that, I took ages to make the mod, and ages again to test, to finally realise that it could not work, so I know that I am not good)
The things I can do : a schematic derived from the PCB above and then a proper remake of the PCB and soldering the component on it. And I believe that I can devise an enabler switch using a dpdt switch, to either switch off the whole mod (including led) and route original timer D signal to serial clocks, or switch on the whole mod and route the modded serial clocks. If it's good enough for you, I can work on this part I can do and send you that.

I think I've got some new 16v8 I can contribute to the cause. Programming isn't a problem for me either way.

Hmm, if the ST format version is the easiest to do, I'd be absolutely fine
with that.
It still gives the "doubled" 38.4 speed.
The RSVE mod from H.A. is more complex and does offer higher speeds
but there are still limitations.
Looking back at messages/posts (from various sources) from others who
had installed it, you still can't get the higher speeds with stability unless
you have an accelerated machine. One BBS Express! ST SysOp did the
mod on his Mega STe, for port 1 and stated that at 56k he would have
occasional "dropped" characters and that's on the 16mhz Mega STe.
My Mega ST4 does have an AdSpeed accelerator (16mhz) so that will help,
but honestly, 38.4 was all I was hoping for realistically. I'd also like to do
port one on my Mega STe (16mhz) and a 3rd one on my STacy (40mhz).
As far as testing goes, I've no problem with testing it on one of my
machines.
