I can't find any information exactly about this... But with gas being 15p and electric being 54p.. At first glance running a gas generator would be way cheaper than electric. Problem is, how efficient are generators ? I mean even 50% efficiency would equate to 30p.. Still cheaper than electric.

I mean in theory. Connect a gas generator to the house gas mains instead of a gas canistor. Bodge in electric cables to run stuff...

Our house generally runs around 500w a hour in general. Mostly its the microwave and kettle which would pull the most. Even so. I don't think we would get much past 2-3kw. So a small generator would cope no problem.

Basically seems gas is double the price for electric generation :(

Do you have variable electric rates for peak hours ?
Sometimes simple a basic load balancing system with a few solar panels can make a big difference

We used to have cheaper night-time usage. Thinking about it I could charge up my UPSU overnight and uses power during the day.. Any mother decided to changes of that contract last year because it wasn't working out any cheaper and overnight was actually some random point which always drifted every couple of days. We kinda got tired of trying to work out when the cheaper electric actually was. But may well be worth considering again now
