Royal Mail strike

In case anyone is not aware. Royal Mail are on strike and this will be causing delays and chaos. Of course any orders to the shop will likely take some days longer than usual. It is possible we just one post during that time at all because everything will be backlog anyway.

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has called on its members who collect, sort and deliver parcels and letters to take strike action on 26 and 31 August and the 8 and 9 September 2022.
We’re really sorry for the disruption that this strike action is likely to cause to you. We want to reassure you we will do everything we can to minimise disruption and get our services back to normal as quickly as possible.
Royal Mail has well-developed contingency plans, but they cannot fully replace the daily efforts of its frontline workforce. We will be doing what we can to keep services running, but customers should expect significant disruption.

Great, I was hoping my TRS-80 would be here today or tomorrow, looks like thats out amongst other things.
EDIT: Hang that, the TRS-80 just arrived :)

Due to strikes there are going to be various delays on shipping store items. There are still some outstanding orders, unfortunately we have not had chance to post since last Monday 26th. All outstanding orders should be shipped next Monday 3rd October.

Friday 30 September 2022 and Saturday 1 October 2022
Thursday 13 October 2022
Thursday 20 October 2022
Tuesday 25 October 2022
Monday 28 November 2022
Further dates have also been announced by the CWU for functional strike action which impacts parts of our operation on the following:
Processing, Distribution, International, Collections, Admin: 3, 9, 15, 24 November and 1 December 2022
Delivery: 4, 10, 16, 25 November and 2 December 2022
Network: 2, 8, 14, 23, 30 November 2022

Royal mail must be out of their minds by not settling these negotiations sooner. At the end of the day if they pay their people more they can just charge a few pence more for their services, doesn't make sense to me.

Problem is when companies start bowing down to strikes and given them raises it opens the floodgates for it continuously happening.. As the saying goes, do not negotiate with terrorists :lol: :roll: All these people should be thankful they even have a job at all. They really not doing themselves any favours by pi$$ing off the companies they work for.
Where I used to work, if you did not like something, you was shown the door. That was the options we got. Also why I refuse to work for any other companies again. All the work I put into things currently and I made less than £300 this past tax year to live on. If people want to complain about wages then they can come and live my life for a while :lol:

How kind of them to not do a strike between the 3 and 12 october, just when I will be able to place an order :D

So what days are they NOT on strike? :roll:
Due to covid, which led to the phenomenon known as the 'great resignation' and the fact that employers are more desperate to employ currently, most of the people at my work are silently on permanent strike. :lol:

I know exactly what you mean @exxos and quite often I echo your words, lately though my sister has been trying to make me a bit more liberal, reminding me things like "just because you had it bad doesn't mean everyone has to be treated bad" and those kinds of sentiments, which yeah, makes sense. Sometimes (often?) companies don't value their employees and get away with paying them the bare minimum. The milk industry is a good analogy - we the consumer pay pittance for milk so that cows get sucked dry, farmers get bugger all and the corporations take the most profit. We should probably re-evaluate our viewpoints sometimes, and like I say I'm usually with you on this, but my sister is 'educating' me :)
