Allo all,

I got a 2x360Mhz Sun Ultra 60 machine recently. I stripped all the hardware down for a thorough clean. Really nice Unix workstation, I'm currently playing around with OpenBSD 7.0 on it (The latest OBSD is supported, how cool is that?!)

I upgraded: The SCSI CD-ROM to a DVD-ROM, added a Gigabit network card and a 3D graphics card (Both 3dlabs and a Radeon) USB/Firewire & Maxxed the RAM to 2GB.

You didn't fit a piggy-back CR2032 coin cell on the NVRAM then?

Is that the same model nvram? Yeah I was thinking of doing something for it before it dies. I'll give it a go.

I think that it is. All the Dallas Semiconductor clock chips are assembled in the same sort of manner, right from the 48MT02 up.

Nice work. I've got lots of old sun ultra workstations from work. I thought they might become collectable but I was wrong. They've just become obscure. I need to find them all a new home.

Share them on here, there are a few Sun enthusiasts amongst us.

Yeah I'm really happy to have one just as a great example of different micro architecture. Also super impressed with Openbsd, it's so easy to install I might start using it on my main computers instead of Linux. I like it's no nonsense approach.
