Hi there,

I'd like to find a flux that is suitable for hot-air, where it won't instantly evaporate - but clean, no horrible sticky rosin!

Any suggestions? Thanks

I am yet to find anything :( They all seem to quote "no clean" or " water washable". But nothing other than the ultrasonic cleaner ever fetches the stuff of.

Mostly the "no clean" stuff is just packed full of IPA which is why it evaporates quickly. I stopped using that as it was forever spitting everywhere burning me :(

Maybe someone on here has some better experiences..

"No clean" merely means that it won't eat the circuit board/chips etc. if it's not washed off. It doesn't mean that it leaves the board sparkling fresh and minty.

I have found that if you have flux that has not been heated it will be very hard to remove. A mix of ips and windex will help before putting it into a ultrasonic cleaner the on heat flux will come off well the non heated flux will turn to a sticky goo

I'm quite happy with chipquik tacky flux. It's thick enough to use hot air at a low speed on small parts. Clean up with IPA.
