I have elk with flaky rom chip, I know it is very long shot, but does maybe have spare/dead elk which would want to break for parts by any chance?
Technically it should be possible just to use 27c256, but neither M27c256 not M27c512 work as expected (init section passes, but when BASIC loads it crashes elk). I suspect some kind of timing issue. with ST chips.
I have ordered AMD and Hitachi 27c256, maybe this would solve the issue, but if by any chance someone had original chip this would work 100%.

I got offered replacement chip by daveejhitchins from stardot forum. So I will need to just clean this elk and it will be ready to use again. Time to spend some time playing Citadel again.

Dave is mega helpful, he's been trying to help me get my ULA replacement board built, but the lack of CPLD has proved a bit of an obstacle!

Is there ULA replacement projekt? Is it open source?

I believe it is open source, but I managed to get a PCB from Dave a while back, but just can't find the chip I need due to the shortages. Let me see if I can find the link for you, I think it's on GitHub.
