quick question

Did the Mitsu SR97 only come out in US? is that why I cannot find any mention of it?

I have several, but notice nothing on it. I am going to assume the SR98 is the same in 220v?

YES Ron, same psu, same machines.. so it must have been a US MegaST psu.

I am ordering caps. for 3 psu.

Its has 220uf 200v - figure buy 250v

2200uf 10v to 16v

1000uf 10v to 16v

This look like the right buy?

How did you arrive at those numbers ? You have to check the specs of the caps and wade through 100's of datasheets to find the best ones, or at least rule out bad ones. So assume you did that ?

EG: On the sites quick view (which you can't assume is even correct without looking at the datasheets)

No I did not wade through 100s. Considering I have no idea what makes one good enough for a 35 year old PSU and what makes one bad. I can see the panasonic is better than the nichicon.. but is the nichicon bad?

I just want a good usable PSU.. and is available. they all still work now. I am replacing in order to avoid issues. Using those examples is that nichicon a bad cap?

It is not "bad" no. But it is far from the best as well. They will be easily better than the original ones for sure.

So doing a little more investigation.. Life at a higher temp is good I see .. but I see the ripple current is lower, so this one is a bit of a trade off I guess. I just read that this is the ripple it can handle.. so higher is better.

SO for the 220uf 200v big cap.. I assume this nichicon is way better than the first one I posted up.

@ only a $1.5 more each.. I would say this is a much better value.

Do you mean ripple current ? The higher the value the better. Try having a look at something like a EPCOS or something aswell.
