Internal drive select

Ok, i'll try to explain this...
I have the following
What I would like to do is to install both as drive A and create a switch to select either Drive A Normal or Drive A Gotek. This gives me an option to later plug in an external B drive without messing around cutting pins etc...
Am thinking to create a board where both drives plug in and power up but then add a switch to switch Pin 10 (Drive 0 select) and 16 (Motor ON) to go to the floppy if I want to use the floppy or the gotek if I want to use the gotek
or do I just need to switch for pin 16 (Motor On).
Will this work?

You need to switch the drive ID's.. MOTOR ON is better to turn that off as well, but the ST doesn't do that anyway.

So this would not work?

It’s a shame if not, just trying to install both options inside so it’s nice a neat. Prior to switching on you could then just select which drive a option you would like.
I have a 520STFM by the way.
Shame if it’s not achievable on the STFM.
(Sorry for the simple diagram I hope it makes sense on what I am trying to do)

You would need a pull up resistor on both id selects (pin 10) on both drives. Then switch pin 10 on the ST to either of the drives.

Hmm interesting, sounds quite simple to do :) I’ll do a bit more of a detailed diagram to see if my understanding is correct an post up. Thank you for the guidance!

Had a go at drawing a basic circuit map thinking about the resistor and the switch needed for pin 10, what do you think of this?
I am assuming as the drive selector pin has a switched there is no need for a switch for the power.
Prior to powering up the ST I can select either to boot from the internal floppy as an A drive or an internal Gotek as an A drive.
I will think about where I would like the gotek screen and buttons once this works :)

I will order the parts and built it and report back as others may find this useful :)

Shouldn't the pull up resistors connect to 5V?

Ahh right so the switch goes from pin 10 on the ST to pin 10 of the drive and then there is a Connection on the Drive side (before connecting to the drive), of pin 10 that has the pull up resistor connecting it to the 5vdc of the power pin 1?
