So, I found a newer version on Atari Mania and had a mess about with it.

I didn't know this used the sound chip. Very useful to me.

Had a lot of issues when trying to add all the songs.
Firstly, trying to add them into the Dukebox feature stopped anything in there from loading.
I've discovered there's a limit which I think is around the 87 songs mark. (will put it here soon)
So, I just thought I'd load them with the Song File loader. That didn't work either.
I cut the songs up between 3 folders. This worked but created artifacts and turned the notes on the stave into hedgerows. :lol:
Going off this issue and the fact that the Song File list was slow to populate, I decided to split each folder and aim for the 100 songs mark.
I decided to do this according to the alphabet and to start each folder with a new letter.
This works much better with no artifacting and faster list population.
(When the Sun hits your eyes like a big piece of pie that's a moire :lol: )

I also had this out of internal memory problem, which is fixed by running FOLDR100.PRG before hand (I've popped this into an AUTO folder) The Music Studio 88 is far better with all this and also has this handy Dukebox feature.

I wouldn't recommend The Music Studio while this later version exists.

Here is all the song files I found (.SNG) in their more manageable form: You get this extra directory caused by windows 10 hidden Volume information which displays as SYSTEM~1 when using GemDos:
This is only usually visible on my EmuTOS setup and can be removed at the Atari end.

Since it isn't visible on TOS 1.04 I can't get rid.
I tried, but windows puts it back on when I remove my SD card. This is only mildly annoying. :lol:

I decided to put the songs on their own partition after all the problems I had. This way just typing the drive letter (D: in my case) pulls up the list of song folders. No backtracking needs to be done in the file directory.

I took all the song files from The Music Studio and put them into The Music Studio 88. They show up in Dukebox fine. I also added Axel F to it from the main song folder last night whilst mucking about. I stuck the Casio presets from The Music Studio in there too in case anyone has one or I end up with one somehow.
All the songs in the Dukebox are also present in the main songs folder. This is just a real handy playback method and place for favourites.

This is why I wanted to just copy all the songs I found into it. Unfortunately this was the start of a long night trying to figure out how to make it all work.

Now this is fun again, as I can just browse these and listen to what the Atari sound chip plays and also the MIDI keyboard.

It's a fun way of checking out the keyboard sounds. 8-)

Since the file format (.SNG) used, plays the sound chip and can control a MIDI keyboard. Does anyone know if I can convert a .MID file to an .SNG file.

This way I could record something in MIDI and have the chip play it back. That's the crazy hope anyway. :lol:
