A1200 HDD and WinUAE

Well - as I have right now better access to real Amiga hardware with CF card I just dusted off my old A1200 HDD to see if I can recover anything from it.

To get it done I have installed WinUAE running on Win7 and connected that HDD via ATA2USB cable. Windows recognized connected HDD (at least size of it) but then in the WinUEA I was not able to get it configured as Commodore A600/A1200/A4000 IDE as shown on the screenshot below

Is there any other or better way to get it to work? Also I have somewhere adapter which I was using connecting old laptop drives to ATA port but that will require dust off my old PC tower ;)

You need to run WinUAE as administrator for it to be able to access the devices directly, otherwise it will not work.

Yeah - I did run it as the admin other way it says Access Denied.

Simple I'm not sure if WinUAE should to recognize more info or it is fine. Other options which are available:
- IDE (auto) with ATA-1/ATA-2+/ATA-2-strict
- UAE (uahef.device) which I think is related to "soft" HDD

Disk info gave by WinUAE looks like
