I take it this is because they don't like me having 4MB RAM?

Could be, or OS version.

I'd totally forgotten about that.

Some HDD running game conversion, especially made by PP, don't like to have any resident programs in memory...

Yeah. I've learned that the hard way.

Even had Llamatron bombing if I hesitated pressing the fire button to start the game, so I replaced it with the version Jeff Minter has on his website.
Now it will tolerate control panel. I like having a different colour desktop. Also, if I get the Atari green I know I've forgotten to switch the hard drive on. :D

I've had the same experience with memory resident programs and PPeras HDD adapted games. I've also found that starting up in medium resolution sometimes stops them running too, so I use Xboot to have different desktop resolutions available, some with ACCs some without.

I'm pretty happy. Got an SD card set up with only control panel on it for games and demos which is almost perfect and an SD card for music which runs Notator and Music Mouse really stably on top of EmuTos 1.0 and NVDI 2.51

Have found that one of the demos works on EmuTos 1.0 but not on my TOS 1.04

I'm pretty much 98% great.

At some point in the future I might mess about with a third setup and maybe try Xboot.

Spent a year sorting out hardware, software and music keyboard setup so pretty tired.
