Notator: Compatibility with other programs
Posted: 31 Aug 2020 12:56
I've recently discovered that the key commands "D" "W" and "H" cause Notator to freeze whilst in the note editor.
The overall program will work fine, but both Deskpic and NVDI 5 will cause this freeze.
I discovered this problem by accident whilst trying out a program called ClicksOff to possibly combat the stuck click bug.
Using Notator with EmuTOS will require an accelerator. Otherwise Notator will run slower than straight off the floppy disk (most noticeable with the drop down menus)
With an accelerator Notator will fly!
In fact Using EmuTOS with an accelerator makes the accelerator faster (unless you use WARP9 which currently has an issue with EmuTOS)
I tried NVDI 2.51 but got this: This is how I fixed it: Has to be rebooted for the change to be effective.
I kept getting 2 bombs at start up until I changed the order using AUTOSORT.
Installing NVDI 2.51 changed my fonts, making window navigation awkward.
I replaced NVDI 2.51 ASSIGN.SYS file with the NVDI 5 ASSIGN.SYS file and the fonts returned to their previous state.
I also deleted NVDICONF.ACC since I couldn't access the setting I needed from there anyway.
All is fine!
Here are the benchmarks of 3 different accelerators:
NVDI 5 with TOS 1.04 NVDI 5 with EmuTOS 0.9.12 NVDI 2.51 with TOS 1.04 NVDI 2.51 with EmuTOS 0.9.12 WARP9 with TOS 1.04 WARP9 with EmuTOS 0.9.12 My machine is an Atari 520STFM with 4MB Marpet RAM upgrade and 6 ROM US TOS 1.04
I also use an UltraSatan with PP Hard Disk Driver.
EmuTOS 0.9.12 used.
