coming over from this topic https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... 412#p45412

Hi everyone. I have everything set up and all powers on.

But i have an issue. If the megafile is turned on the floppy wont work and errors with "insert disk" and doesnt read anything, but if the mega file is off, the floppy works fine. There's a red switch on the board, they are all flipped to the top.

I have a copy of the disk with all the utilities and proper drivers on it. Tried AHDI and ICD. which i cant use because the floppy dont wanna work.

My ST has 4mb of ram, so its not low on memory.

The Atari sees the drive as it lists "2" when it starts
The floppy drive does not autoboot the floppy but it makes like three clicks as it tries to read, it'll do the same when in GEM too.
But like i said the floppy drive stops reading anything. "insert disk" Either on A: or B:. Doesn't even read when booting.
Turn off the mega file, drive works again without any problem.

I have TOS 1.04 with the exxos adapter.
Display is through an UBE ST to VGA.

i want to get the megafile working.

There really isn't all that much i can find about what programs to use to set up the atari st hard drive with.

Check if a Megafile prevents the floppy from working or just pluggin in the DMA cable into ST does it. Both floppy and ACSI use the same chip (DMA) to operate.

I'd think the DMA/Floppy pull ups would be a good place to start as suggested by exxos, though you could try the original fix.

Thanks exxos, I went and got the first listed from RS electronics. Should be here later today. Will report back once i get it done.

Which part of the wire goes to which side of the small resistor on the board for its power??

Looks like the top end of R303 is lifted and then soldered to pin 38 of the DMA with the new resistor inline. Remember to lift the dma pin out.

The end with the dot goes to 5v.

I'm actually doing the advanced repair, not the single resistor line. But thank you, i'm about to start work on it.
