Something which I mentioned in the past also, our jumper links on the SIMM on MAD8&9.
MAD9 will enable / disable 4MB leaving 1MB max.
MAD8 will enable / disable 1MB leaving 256K max.
This was more to allow quick and simple way to force a lower RAM machine for when I write apps etc. it may also be useful for some games which will not work with a 4MB system.
Ultimately I think this can be controlled via a flashyclock register.
