Hey y'all

Hi there,
I'm Tony.
I've been a USA Atari user since early 1987, when I turned my university student loan into an Atari 1040STf with SH204 HD instead of tuition. Heh. It was worth it.

I love HW design and I follow the work here very closely.
I've purchased two 1040STfs to be candidates for helping "us" out with HW designs.
I just asked to buy an H5 assembled board.

My kit now is:
1 x MegaST 4 with a Turbo ST accelerator board and a MegaTalk (yes, Gadgets by Small).
1 x MegaSTE with a 68882 and that's about it.
1 x MIST
1 x working 1040STf
1x in-transit 1040STf
UltraSatan
SC1224 monitor
Some BEST electronics monitor cables and a scan-line converter
And an electronics lab right next to these Ataris.

Back in the day, I did a lot of work on the Atari. I used the Mark Williams C compiler and assembler chain to write a cross-compiler for protected mode 80386 work (this was before I could find any other 386 compilers), I started but did not finish some work for MiNT (Sorry, Eric!) and I wrote the Atari ST code for the SunRize Industries PerfectVision (hi Mike, if you're around still!).

A spark of an idea I have is to build a graphics card for the ST on the Terasic DE10-Lite board. I have one sitting here. That EVB has a VGA output on it and could be a good stepping stone to a video card. I'll have to find the specs on how to write a video driver for TOS/GEM/AES/VDI/ whatever. I don't know where they are and simple googlin' hasn't helped much.

I'll help as I can!
Tony

I have never really met another Atari ST user in person. Must be that pond you mentioned.

Maybe the store owner counts… There was a little place where I went to high school that sold Atari upgrades. It wasn’t big enough to hold many people. Somehow I recall seeing people swap software. Yep, that’s about it.

Tony, where abouts are you located? I'm in RI but would love to move out west where I'm from.

Hi Tony, wow you're proper old school! You're idea of an FPGA ST graphics card could be excellent. Right now on this forum Exxos is developing a brand new ST motherboard, would be kind of amazing if your fpga graphics option could be provided as an add-on module... There are people who know about driver development, I think Idek is a good person to ask as he writes drivers for the Nova cards, I don't think he's on this forum but he is on atari-forum.com (when it's up) Here is his website: https://silicon-heaven.org/atari/nova/

I'm in Richmond, VA. Not very west of RI. I have family in Indiana. That's barely west, heh!
