A short airborne trip across to the other side of the kitchen later, and it was that point at which I discovered a healthy respect for the mains!
Yikes. I did a few sketchy things with mains when I was young but thankfully didn't manage this one :)

So opening that crate/box thing where the big coil lived wasn't such a bad idea. I found missing Atari bits including the MegaST keyboard cable I really needed to use the Falcon in the modified case (it has one of those RJ sockets for the keyboard). That's been annoying me for ages :) I should start looking in the wrong boxes more often.

There's always good stuff in random boxes, best to check regularly :)

Looking forward to an improvement in video for this little thing, then I will look at getting the micro expander working properly.
Well, all the parts have been shipped, this should be getting built soon :)

Final turned pin socket arrived today and the PokeyMax fits lovely and thankfully the 800XL is booting again. The U1MB got a test fit and seems to work fine, so next up I'll drop in the VBXL, which does need a little more fitting, but I'm expecting it to be all up and running again.

It's a shame it just doesn't work in the 600XL, but as it's an expensive upgrade, I really don't want it to be hamstrung by only being able to use a single memory config.

On the plus side, the 600XL is still upgraded to 64K, and I know everything fits inside it's tiny case if I feel like having another go at some point in the future. I may just treat it to a VBXL for now, we'll see.

Hmm, it seems that I may have bought a Sega Megadrive in need of repair...

More to come.

Aha! Back to your old tricks again, eh? :D

I barely have time to frequent the forum ATM, but I thought, RJ coming back on form deserved some sort of comment.

Only on a small scale...

I spotted a Megadrive in a CEX local to me and it was £45, and I nearly bought it, but then I've been distracted by some more family issues and let it slide, so I thought I'd look on eBay and found one for £22 inc delivery with some minor video issues and did buy it now. Naughty I know, but I did have one, so it is a fit in terms of a device I owned, though not when I was a child in this case.

And of course it does use an 68K so fits in nicely :)
