A friend of mine lend me his Sam460 board so I thought I'd teach it the ways of the Atari.
Sadly, crosstos-purec runs a bit too slow for comfort on that little board so it's not really viable to use for cross compiling Atari/Raven code.
(and building the m68k-atari-mint-gcc cross compiler for this host is way out of my league :lol: )

Cool. Yesterday I finally tested the ppc pci thingy card in my 4000…. But this has nothing to do with the Raven ofcourse…

Tested an ES1868 soundcard that I received a while back and it works pretty much out of the box and starts up in Soundblaster compatible mode.
The only issue was completely whack volumes and a muted wavetable header on startup so I'll make a tiny essinit.prg as a temporary stopgap - one of these days I'd like to get back to some kind of unified sound system thing.

I hope to find some time to play with ESS extended mode for digital audio, especially PIO block transfer and its refill interrupt - I'm anticipating this will greatly reduce overhead compared to standard Soundblaster PIO which is extremely basic and limited.

And now I'm even more looking forward to the release of MK1869 Xtreme, with ES1869+GUS on a single card :)


The ESFM synth appears pretty good and I can't really hear much or any difference from a real OPL3 when in compatible mode.
It's apparently capable of incredible things when programmed in native mode. This stuff is nuts coming from a cheap soundcard FM synth...

Ive always had a soft spot for FM synthesis. (FM soft synth on my coding bucket list) :lol:

@agranlund Saw this some time ago, wonder if those chips can be easily sourced from somewhere... But if new isa cards are produced then probably yes?

They are obtainable from China. I may see about ordering some with my next order.

Picogus now does CDrom as well it seems.
So emulates a CDROM drive from usb-stick image.

I updated my PicoGUS to the latest firmware v3.1.0 but Raven version of PGUSINIT.PRG no longer works with the new firmware and probably needs to be updated. Unsure how the CDROM emulation would work but interested if it does.

Not (yet) on Raven/Atari.
But pretty cool isn’t it.. They keep adding stuff.
