Ok then, I decided to spend a few minutes away from the OSI to have a go at making a new ball with the metal powder:

So mixed up the resin with some of the powder:

And poured:

And now we wait...
Annoyingly after the fact I realised I may have misjudged the amount of hardener (Not quite enough), so it could be a bit longer than 24 hours before it sets, I guess we'll have to wait and see...
Just may take longer than planned to see if it worked. I have more than enough materials to go again if it doesn't quite work out.

OK, so it's been a month, so I thought I'd better report back. And it's not good.
Unfortunately my miscalculation with the hardener means that nothing has set. It has 'set' to a gel like consistency, a bit like toffee, and as such is unusable as anything solid!
However, being the optimist I am, at least it looks like I can recover my mould, the toffee seems to be releasing and I should be able re-use it for another try. Same goes for my mixing pots, so it's not a dead loss.
Worst case scenario, I can easily make another mould as I have plent of RTV silicone left over.
Onwards and upwards...

Well, it's been a while since I posted on this thread, about 3 months in fact, mostly because I was stuck with resin that hadn't set.
Well the good news is that it has set enough for me to clean out my moulds and other tools and they are as good as before now, so I can try again!!
This time I think I'll try the correct amount of hardener and hopefully there will be a better result!!!
Interestingly, the half ball I pulled out of the mould, though still a bit soft, had a really nice weight to it, so fingers crossed for next time and, I hope, a full ball!!!
