@bfollowell No worries, thanks for sorting that out. I had moved some posts around and was worried that had broken things, so good to have it all lined up again.

Hi All,

Apologies if I can't find correct post, if one exists.

I have an Atari 1040STE, just connected Gotek, which works perfectly fine in amiga. When connected to atari with jumper on s0 it doesn't load anything whatsoever. I tried the same FlashDrive as used on amiga. It's on latest FF. Could it be chip on mobo?

Have you put the right (Atari ST) autoboot.hfe on the flash drive?

That's not actually required as FF supports .ST files natively.

Whilst you can use autoboot.hfe, and using the correct file is a consideration, it isn't necessary as you can simply put .ST image files into the root of the USB stick and select using the buttons, though I would say if you are still using the LED display it's much more difficult to understand what is in the drive and having an OLED display really helps here.

My checklist would be:

1. Is the floppy cable correctly connected with the red line lined up with pin 1? The ST requires the cable to be flipped through 180 degrees.
2. Is S0 the ONLY jumper set? S0 is all you need for Atari.
3. Do you have a working .ST image 'loaded' into the Gotek slot? Test the images using Hatari or Steem.
4. If you have the correct Atari ST version of autoboot.hfe, make sure you select slot 000 to use it.

I know this is an old thread, but ive been trying to follow it to get my Gotek up and running. No matter what i try i cant get the gotek detected to program it.
Ive had it a while because i gave up on it way back in 2020 i think, i have time now and brought th project back out the attic and again i cannot get the damn thing to program
Ive tried it USB to USB, ive tried the USB to serial adaptor used in the guided on here. I even bought a 2nd gotek clone recently just incase it was faulty, but i cant even get this one programmed either. Im not a novice either, i have plenty experience modding consoles, and even jtagging old cable tv boxes from back in the day so im sure i am not just being daft. i even tried it on a win 7 PC a WINXP pc and also my newer win10/11 laptops
nothing works
checked the comm ports installed the ch340 driver and the dfu driver. but againnothing works

the original gotek is ARM CPU and the newer clone is a Artery CPU which i had to source the programming software for also

Has anyone else experienced issues like this. I hate being beat on a project lol but this is frustrating the hell out of me

any advice welcome

I've had loads of different Goteks over the years and not had one fail to program yet. Have you looked at the other Gotek pages here: Going Gotek ?

Apologies if you have, it wasn't too clear from your post. Have you tried a PL2303HX USB to serial adapter as per my guide? It may be different to the CH340 and I know the PL2303HX works for flashing Gotek 100%

Also have you checked your device manager to be sure everything is turning up there as expected?

Once I started using the USB A-A method I then stopped using USB to serial, it's way more reliable, just make sure its a fully wired cable and not just for power.

I've been using it with Win7, Win 10 and Win 11 and Mac OS :)

Definitely worth a punt for a couple of quid.
