@rubber_jonnie Normally what I would do is go around each pin on X1 and keep pressing reset as you change pins and see what happens... 2.2k may well be the thing you need to change.

By X1, you mean the CH1 probe on the scope? Apologies if I've interpreted wrong, but this is new territory for me.

I did just go around every pin and reset, What is weird, is that it still doesn't boot, but I now have a totally different set of readings off the address and data lines, some are still at 5v, others show a signal which goes high on reset. What would be good is to have both scope channels running at the same time with a good machine on one channel, and the bad machine on the other so I can do a 1 for 1 comparison.

It's all werid.....

I mean x1 scope probe. Sometimes just enough capacitance to get things working, but that's assuming a problem with just 1 pin which is unlikely.

Its worth adding the 2.2k sils anyway.

Sorry, I just twigged what you meant by x1, you meant times 1 as opposed to x10, or times 10. The switch on my probe was set to x1 so all makes sense now. It didn't work, but I'll replace those resistor packs when I get the chance anyways, it can't hurt.

Moving through the pins and resetting made no real difference, but the address and data pins did change, but the signal just didn't seem the same as a working machine and some seemed to stay pinned to 5v.

All good fun!!

Annoying is not the word. I ordered 9 pin SIL 2.2k packs, only the wrong item has been sent, and I have 10 pin packages.

Got to wait until I can get replacements, and it's a double holdup since I need them for the Mongrel build too!

:sigh:

I got sent 10 pin ones too, I just cut the extra leg off

The thought had crossed my mind but it would very much offend my OCD. Stupid brain.

And since they will be on the Mega and the Mongrel, that would be double trouble. I'd lay awake at night worrying about the SIL overhang....

Don't cut it off RJ, bend it up and if you ever need another pullup you can wire wrap to the pin that's bent up along the body. Never hurts to have some extra pull-ups available in various locations on the H4. :D
