I use a CF-IDE adapter with the CF having the first partition of 256Mb and the next ones of 1Gb. I'm using Fat16.

This might have been asked before - but have you considered a board variant slightly adapted to accept 68040 CPUs? I think it would make this design more accessible to more people wanting to have a go a building one.

It is very difficult to find 'good' 060 CPUs (especially RC with FPU) at a reasonable cost - almost at the point where we would need to lift them off working Amiga accelerators to use them in Ataris.

It is easier to find good 040s - which would allow more people to build themselves a 'baby' Raven? I expect it would add quite a bit of hassle though on the bios side setting up the memory translation etc. again. The HW changes however I think are not huge. I remember a few years ago someone was looking at an adapter for 060's to fit in 040 footprint (I have a prototype somewhere - it was quite small).

Bias: I have a box of 040 chips and nothing to plug them into! OTOH I have a single 060 I would need to hot-swap around - something which isn't not too easy and a good way to end the IC :)

In any case I might be tempted to build one of these just for the fun, even if I don't have a CPU spare to put into it right now. Looks great!

Not as easy doing the opposite of putting a 68060 in a board designed for 68040.
Raven only understands native 060 bus, while 060 upgrades for 040 computers makes the cpu start in a more or less backwards compatibility mode.
Saying that, I don't think it would be super tricky to redesign the relevant bits to make it a 68040 motherboard with the possibility of using a 68060 via adapter. It's just not something I'm interested in spending time and money on.

Very slowly starting to get back into Atari things again after having almost zero time for the last month.

I wanted to "fix" the Eiffel since it sometimes fails to keep up with my USB keyboard connected with passive USB->PS2 connector.
But somehow I ended up in a completely different route and I'm now waiting for prototype PCBs for what should eventually become a replacement that plugs into the Eiffel socket..
based on a CH559 microcontroller and aiming to be Eiffel compatible where it makes sense plus extended with some new features.
Ie; keep Eiffels custom protocols, support for uploading the same keymap files and settings and so on.

Initial proof of concept with mess-of-wires have been quite promising so far and I'm looking forward to getting the pcb to take it further.

The idea is that it will provide this when plugged into an A1 motherboard:
- 2x PS2 same as before
- 2x USB on internal header
- 2x Joystick ports as before but now with support for old Atari, and Amiga, mice in joyport0 (1)
- Support for second temperature sensor (2)

(1) requires bodge wire on A1 motherboard for right mouse button support.
(2) requires bodge wire on A1 motherboard to get 68060 core temperature reading.
Perhaps this would be dropped for the plugin version and only a thing on Raven rev.A2


Assuming this ends up working satisfactory I intend to have it built directly onto the next revision of Raven instead of Eiffel, and most likely get rid of the PS2 connector and use that space for a stacked 2xUSB+Ethernet connector instead.
