There is hope. :)

I'm now more convinced than ever that Sporniket's RSVE mod is working fine
and I have it installed correctly.

Reason being, I took up thenameofthegame's suggestion to use CoNect95 because it
is supposed to be RSVE aware and got some interesting results.

Using HSModem with the RSVE option enabled and setting CoNect95 to 38.4 baud,
it would communicate with the WiModem232:

I then used it to call a Linux based BBS. Look at the connect speed that BBS is
reporting:

This is good. Now to figure out why BBS Express! ST and the WiModem232 are
still not "talking" to each other via the HSModem/RSVE combo...

Good progress!

So what happens if you use CoNnect and specify 19200 baud? When you used SETTER.PRG it was supposed to remap that rate to 38400 for MFP.PRG correct? Curious what the results would be to try 19200 in CoNnect.

If I am understanding this correctly, using 19200 baud should automatically map and you should get the same results as 38400 baud. Just an idea though. :D

If it doesn't work, then that might indicate an issue with SETTER.PRG. That's why I suggested earlier to use a virgin MFP.PRG and try connecting at 110 baud with a program that supports it. In fact, maybe 110baud/virgin MFP.PRG would be good to try with CoNnect anyway since you have already established that the program can work with RSVE at least in one configuration.

Not sure I can help ...?

I have RSVE and RS-Speed in my PAK machines. I have Nullmodem cables and a Macintosh with a USB to Serial Adapter.

With the WiModem232 set to 38400 baud, and attempting to communicate with it with CoNnec95 set to 19200 results in
no success. If you try to type in "AT" or "AT&V" (which shows stored settings) , the letters won't even appear on the screen.
As soon as you go to "port" and change the speed to 38400 in CoNnect95, you can type in the commands and the WiModem232
responds correctly.

Same with TAZ, except that TAZ, even set at 38400, still won't communicate with the WiModem232. I'm thinking it's not RSVE
aware.

Normally, when you start up BBS Express! ST, set to its highest, 19.2k, and the WiModem232 is set to 19.2k, you can watch the
LED readout on the WiModem232 and see the commands from the BBS software appear on the LED screen. With the RSVE software
running and (supposedly) doing the remapping, and the WiModem232 set to 38400, those commands never appear on the LED screen.

As soon as I can get some more free time, I'm going to check to see what version of HSModem software I have and start with a fresh
archive - then play around with the settings.

The good news is, that by turning the RSVE mod off in the HSModem software, I can still function at 19.2k and thus continue keeping
DarkForce! online until I can hopefully get this sorted out.

I make a quick test with a nullmodem cable and send a txt file from a macintosh to my PAK RSVE machine (Connect 97) at 38400 Baud and all was fine ...

I use not HSMODEM and set the port via the cpx to 110 Baud (38400 Baud).

I don't understand. HSmodem remaps the 110 speed to 38400 so how is it remapping without HSModem?
