You should try first to ping yourself (192.168.1.77)
Then if it works ping an other device on 192.168.1.x (Not the gateway, as it may consider your network card as a spoofing device or whatever else...)
Are you sure your network is /24 (i.e. 255.255.255.0)? You should check the subnet mask for an other device on your network.

Yes, pinging myself works perfectly, but I think I've found the problem: any IP set for the gateway is 192.168.1.254, 8.8.8.8 etc, ifconfig returns me 192.168.1.255 which is (apparently) nothing!

The broadcast address (.255) is correct and is used as a special broadcast method but I don't think is overly important here.
Your gateway looks fine (.254)

Do you have MAC address filtering on or any VLANs enabled? Do you need to tag that port with the default VLAN maybe?

Have you swapped your Ethernet cable yet?

Does your router have a firewall enabled? Is ICMP packets (ping) blocked or restricted?

Yes, I changed several cables. The modem firewall is disabled, I think...

Can your Mac use an ethernet cable (ideally the same cable) and ping the router and 8.8.8.8.
Then that will prove the cable and router is fine.
Then it's pretty much the ethernet card itself

I have the NASA network at home... in addition to wifi I have connected Mac, HP Win 10, Amiga 4000Tx, Raspberry PI 4, Mac Mini G4 with Morphos and they all work without problems. Yes, I got the idea that unfortunately it is the ethernet card that I had new for many years in a box that is not compatible with Raven. Or there is something in the eneh.stx drivers
I have to try with another card but I'm sorry about this.
