Ok, so when I got my CF card the XT CF mini stopped working...

:headbang:

Before inserting the CF card, I switched the TANDY on but the nice BIOS boot screen I had posted previously has disappeared.

The Tandy simply boots like it would not have any CF IDE adapter installed in.

I launched XTIDECFG and could read the content of the EEPROM but when I wanted to re-flash it, there was an error.

There was no problem when I flashed it again with my EPROM programmer though.

Interesting, I had a similar problem with my XT-ide. Sometimes I can write the ROM in situ, other times it fails. I sometimes get a ROM checksum error and it just boots to floppy.

Flashing in the TL866 tends to fix it. As yet I haven't been able to make any CF cards with mine.

@rubber_jonnie

Quite weird...

I will have to check further tomorrow.

I am really fed up today.

Hope you feel better, definitely weird and something I need to get back to as well.

Still issues with the XT CF mini.

I can know flash the chip again while fitted in the Tandy, but it's not always recognised when I launch XTIDECFG.

I guess the 28C64 EEPROM is somehow faulty...

Ordered a 27C64 EPROM and now have to wait 2 or 3 days.

I may try the same, I think I may have some 27C64s in my parts drawer.

I am wondering if I can run the config software on my Book 8088 and dump the XT-IDE ROM from that and burn it to my card/ROM and see if that works.

Ultimately I'll be using the PicoMem mostly but I'd really like to get the XT-IDE working.

Unfortunately, I have all sorts of EPROMs in my parts box but not a 27C64...

I ran the config software on DOSBOX on my Mac, and there was no issues at all. Should be good on your Book 8088 too.

I just found my 27C64's, but they need UV erasing first. I'm just in the middle of populating my 610 expansion board, so I will probably look at it when I've finished with that. I'm mostly just smoke testing that right now, so far it all looks to be as it should.

Should be easy to get the config off the Book 8088 as it has a USB drive :) I'll test on my PPC512. I'll let you know how I get on.

Hmmm.

It seems you can't dump the ROM from XT-IDE with the config tool, so getting one out of my Book 8088 isn't going to be possible, however I can probably use the tool to copy the config from side by side, so that's up next.

Having done the side by side changes, the XT-IDE works to the extent that the PPC will now boot and not freeze. However the CF card was not seen.

One of the main things I changed was the drive type to BIU 8 which is one of the XTCF options and I also disabled the slave drive detection.

I guess it's progress, but still not there.
