Tidied up the reset wires, shortening them.
The machine's been off the bench and turned off for a good four hours now and when it booted the time and settings were correct. So, it's a fully operational machine.
I think I have a graphics SIMM in the loft. If I can find it I'll see if it fits. It was for the LC II a picked up a couple of years ago but the machine already had one fitted.

I don’t have a copy. I think I may try to build a BlueSCSI for it or similar. I can try a 72 pin SIMM to upgrade the memory, maybe a Noctua fan too

Don't forget the overclock. :-) These boxes use a VRAM simm of some kind for video memory don't they? Been years since I opened mine up.

I don’t know the speed of 030 I’ve fitted as I couldn’t read the markings, even if they’re a real freescale marking. The markings seem to have wiped off the one I fitted.
Yes, there’s a VSIMM slot. As mentioned, I think I have one in the loft.

I got given a few Apple Simm's, not sure what they are. I will have to have a look.
I think my CPU was a 25mhz chip. Runs fine at 33mhz but you do need to update the OS etc otherwise it crashes on boot. It won't identify the Mac model correctly.

I found a 16MB 72 pin SIMM in my stores last night so managed to pop out this morning before taking the SAAB to the garage and stuck it in...
It's now a 20MB machine.

Found the VSIMM so other than a 68882 the machine is almost fully upgraded.

BlueSCSI v2 and 68882 ordered.
Up the disk cache to 7MB and even with a ZIP100 drive the machine is pretty decent even with 16 bit colour. Even after running Pagemaker 3, Nisus Write, Canvas DA, Microsoft Word V5 and Speedometer I was only using half of the 12MB left over after the disk cache.
The "disk speed" metric in Speedometer 4 went from 0.83 to over 2. (Relative to a Quadra 605 apparently)
No problems with stability and the NVRAM and RTC are both behaving themselves.
