Nice, so over lunch I tested the SD2IEC on the VIC-20 and it works fine and dandy :)

Ok, so this arrived today, just £20 from Retro Lemon:


Which allows for up to 35KB RAM, as seen here:


And I can also add up to 4 ROMs in banks via an EPROM in the empty socket, so I'll get some downloaded to play with :)

Now I have the SD2IEC working too, I have a pretty good overall VIC-20 setup :)

Ok, so I actually played it.

It's got a frame rate you can easily count, sound and music are, well, from the 80s though recognisable, BUT holy hell, it is 100% recognisable as Doom from just the 1st level.

Whoever built this did an astonishing job, it's quite staggering. Doom on a 35K VIC-20!!

My goodness! That is definitely a massive achievement.

Well, I've just had a look at a YT vid of it and it's pretty darn good for a VIC20!

That must have been harder to code than playing the game on nightmare. :)
