Finally managed to compile TOS206 with a PAK logo and "flush caches" enabled. :D

Unfortunately it died here

There does not seem to be a way to test this build in Steem either :( I just get a row of bombs which is understandable anyway.

Is TT-RAM enabled by then? That kind of death is a frequent AltRAM failure mode.

Does PAK TOS need an 030, BTW?

No clue.. Assume so.. Just found where TTram test is hiding..

But then it would never work with anything I guess if that was the case.. but I also guess its not supposed to be running on a ST :P

I guess I could compile some firmware to disable TTRam and see if he gets to desktop to prove that problem or not..

Assume so.. Basically seems to force everything into using a 030 CPU.. and enables all the cache flush stuff. But I am not sure that the PAK part actually does anything else currently.

EDIT:

OK so no alt-ram in firmware, still hangs with the bee :(

I probably screwed up something as the TOS sources were a bit of a broken mess :( Its harder as well, as a lot of stuff wants TOS306 to do all the "fancy stuff" and I am forcing it to TOS206. So a lot of "306" stuff isn't compiled. Must be a bit more to it all I guess   @BlankVector ??

A thought popped in my head that the compiler does give a warning about what looks like a file with a list of variables in it. No idea why. But when I get home I'll compile vanilla TOS and see if it moans about the same file..

Tried a new build.. It gets to desktop but its messed up. Its "stuck" in low res, even though it looks like it should be medium res. Clicking desktop info doesn't do anything past this image. Looks like the AES is FUBAR as its not clearing background stuff either.

I've only compiled to a 68030 with TOS206. Looking through the code, it just adds a lot of cache flush stuff. So no clue how it "broke" the desktop.

Oddly seems to behave in Hatari. But the RAM test on boot goes nuts. Bonkers.

EDIT:

It seems a lot of cache clear stuff is only allowed for TOS300+. So I fixed that and now desktop working fine again. Though floppy drive goes GGURRRPPPTTTHHHHHHH and "Drive A: is not responding". Also the TTram test has vanished now  :stars: :headbang: :pullhair: It ran GB6 fine from IDE though.

There are some delays relating to the floppy access. So will increase that next. Hoping my eraseable ROMs come today as the OTP ones are not exactly cheap and I've binned several so far :(

Also does anyone know how to speed up Hatari in windows ? Seems 32mhz is all it goes to. It takes like a hour to compile and only uses like 6% of my PC CPU  really need it to run flat out.

I think there's a "--fast-forward 1" command line switch, or something to that end.

But if you want to run an ST compiler flat out, Aranym may be a better bet, although I've never got on with it, personally.

I did see something like that but it all seemed to be for linux based stuff. I will try it anyway.

But not have any idea about that stuff. Anything past TOS I have never used.

I did try running TOS306 on the TF536, but did not boot at all. So no idea what is going on there either.

@exxos would you say that the rev5 is now worth building for those that also want the ide as well?

Btw, I’m sure @stephen_usher managed to get tos3 working with his tf536?

Probably. I haven't released the "final" firmware yet.. I got sidetracked trying to get TOS206 working.. I need to test everything in EMUTOS yet.

I reckon at this point you should just declare it an EmuTOS product and pre-load that on the chips.
