This is full vs slight hinting. Its hard to say if there is even a difference. I zoomed in as well.

I think Chrome might be ignoring any setting I put other than font size

I think I have found the issue.. Its seems chrome on Linux is adding more "bold" and "font weight" than in windows

Both these in Linux, I just removed the weight and bold css and it looks way sharper now.

NOTE I only changed "exxos" and the thread page numbers...

Then back in windows...

"Font weight" off and on... almost no difference, BUT in linux chrome is WAY different :pullhair:

Then mint for comparison...

So I wonder what other people see on the forum for that text ?!

Looks like you have the same problem then as well. I've sent a report to Google. Not like it do any good.

So, the Linux systems are taking note of the font weight and Windows isn't. Sounds like a bug in the Windows rendering to me.

Windows is, just Linux does it like x10 more. It's also looking fine on Android. So seems like Linux Chrome has the bug to me.

I'll have to do another forum type template to behave in Linux  But that be a pain as I am switching between Windows and Linux, id have to swap it every time  It's all becoming a huge time sink and I can't mess with stuff on the PC like I could used to because of my RSI :(

Hmmm this is curious now...

I was reading something about the droid font for Linux but I could not specifically find it. So I wonder if I am just simply missing a font somewhere

Code: Select all

fc-match Droid
DejaVuSans.ttf: "DejaVu Sans" "Book"

Code: Select all

fc-match Verdana
Verdana.ttf: "Verdana" "Regular"

fc-match Helvetica
NimbusSans-Regular.otf: "Nimbus Sans" "Regular"

fc-match Arial
Arial.ttf: "Arial" "Regular"

 fc-match sans-serif
DejaVuSans.ttf: "DejaVu Sans" "Book"
Seem to be missing Lucida Grande. Trebuchet MS.

Oh I done it

Think only thing which I did which made any odds was..

Code: Select all

sudo fc-cache -fv
Though I installed a lot of font packs yesterdays

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer

Just gotta work out why "exxos" is to bold now..

EDIT:
Seems its "supposed" to be like it is now. Though at least its a bit more like "normal" now. :)
