If you give me til Monday I’ll figure out if CIAB is required to boot. Wish Toni Wilen frequented this forum. He’d know

It is pretty unlikely I'm going to swap out Akiko this weekend as I'm going camping with my family. I really appreciate the help. The issue as far as I see it at the moment has nothing to do with your board design, but rather my failing CD32 hardware. I brought this CD32 back from the dead, so it could be anything. I think it is unfair at the moment to ask for your time, unless you are just enjoying the challenge.

I guess (and this is a complete guess) you could do something in firmware to mimic the CIA-B like some of the add-on boards do to provide real I/O, but that is just asking too much.

Well...Maybe.. there are different versions of Akiko...
Just like BUSTER Chip on A4000... And may have bugs in them... Donno..
Mine is REV.0

And ques what!? Its booting!

As about broken Akiko/faulty CIA-B... Well... It's dead easy to brake it! Just plug a wrong keyboard in - and here You are! got my CDTV with exactly same symptom, someone plugged A4000 keyboard in it, e voilà - dead CIA and GARY!

I did replace the Akiko and the CIA-B is working. I'm fighting another issue now, but I'll get back to it after the weekend.

I just realised, both my CD32s have Akiko rev A. I really wonder which one was on Nils' motherboard. I wonder if he also has rev 0 and this is something to look at.

I'd prefer to buy the board after my CDTV nightmares... you can then get a nice new CD32 from Analogic and i'll have a CD32 with better video out for my streams.

I just confirmed that the other non working boards also have akiko rev 0. I think we have the culprit.
