BUT the display is really nice, I like watching the temperature go up instead of waiting for the led to stop blinking.

As I read in the STE booster thread, the pin shape has a lot of influence on the connection quality. The pins of both sockets are shaped quite differently. I'm wondering if I can use both. The main problem is with the CPU PLCC that it does not seem to fit any sockets properly.. So far the 3M socket seems ok for the CPU, but I have not done testing with it yet.. I cannot remember if I documented the socket yet or not...
Ah, so I got it the other way around. Funny, the brown one seems to be of much higher quality.
